Explains Angus, “After releasing WIXIW and returning home from touring there was a palpable sense of creative relief and release. We relished in the opportunity to make stuff under no real directive and began almost immediately to produce all kinds of unrelated works. It’s a great position to be in creatively so we decided to share a small portion of the results with you today. Both of these songs happened almost instantly, and, in sharp contrast to the music we produced for WIXIW, were not labored over or scrutinized. It’s been great for us to recall the immediacy and excitement of creating music on the fly – unrestricted by subject matter and void of preoccupations about how it should ’work’ in the greater context of things.”

Angus Andrew, Julian Gross and Aaron Hemphill’s 2013 tour starts in New York, with a very special show at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Temple of Dendur on 18 May, and sees the band in Barcelona for Primavera Sound (25 May) and Sónar’s 20^th Anniversary (13 June) as well as at Manchester’s Parklife (9 June) and in Brighton (8 June) - full details below.

Big Deal release a new single, ‘Dream Machines’, on 22 July and hit the road in support of their forthcoming album, June Gloom, out on 3 June.

Two new tracks, ‘Teradactol’ and ‘In Your Car’ (watch the incredible video, directed by Danny Perez below) have already given listeners a glimpse of the Alice Costelloe and Kacey Underwood’s newly revved up and deliciously amplified sound ahead of the release of June Gloom on Mute.

In addition their appearance to at The Great Escape in May, the band will be playing their very own headline dates across the UK and Europe in June, beginning with Bloodshake at the Garage in London and with an instore at Rough Trade East on album release date (full details below). Make sure not to miss the sight of a band at the very height of their newfound powers.

‘A.M.A.’ opens the forthcoming new album, Vicissitude, out in summer 2013. Its opening click-thump drum track opens up into a summery cascading chorus. The soaring melodies and lyrics introduce two of the main themes of the album – change and hope.

While Turning The Mind swung like a hedonistic after-party held after Maps’ debut We Can Create’s Mercury Prize nomination, Vicissitude has the distinct feeling of digging deep and confronting reality head on. And in each of those cases, with Chapman the sole creative force behind the music, any Maps album is defined entirely by where his head was at during the recording process.

‘A.M.A.’ follows the exclusive limited edition 12” release of ‘I Heard Them Say’ via Boomkat. Backed with remixes by Andy Stott and Maps, the 12” sold out immediately, you can hear the a-side here:

As with previous releases, the new album was primarily recorded at Maps’ home, and was mixed by Ken Thomas (Sugarcubes, M83, Sigur Ros) and Jolyon Thomas.

Vicissitude focuses, tightens and sharpens Maps’ expansive sound. The album might have been born from a long period of self-contemplation, but maybe you do need a while to get simple answers to the difficult questions. Time to face the light

The tour, starting in Los Angeles on 14 June (full details below), will be his first since a series of appearances around the release of Back To Mono, a return to Boyd Rice’s noise roots, and the first new album since 2002’s Children Of The Black Sun.

Featuring tracks recorded and produced by Wes Eisold of Cold Cave, including a new version of 1978’s pioneering noise track, ‘Watusi’, the album emcompasses brand new recordings, alongside unreleased studio and live recordings from the late 70s, plus a cover of The Normal’s ‘Warm Leatherette’. Boyd Rice / NON’s first release was what is known as the Black Album (1975). “When I started to compose and perform noise music in the ‘70s there simply were no other noise groups.” As noise became more commonplace, Rice moved into more subtle and complex recordings. Explains Rice, “Back to Mono was my attempt to demonstrate that the genre I created still had room to grow; that it could still be re-imagined.”

Physical Evidence, a compilation of Boyd Rice’s works produced between 1977-1982 will be released on Mute for first time on CD in autumn 2013, following the success of Back To Mono.

Boyd recently appeared on Neon Indian’s ’Era Extrańa’ which features his remix of the track ‘Halogen’, the release also includes remixes from Twin Shadow, Actress, Patten and Optimo. Full details – HERE

The first taste of new album, ‘I Heard Them Say’, was released last week as a limited edition 12”, exclusive to Boomkat. The 12”, backed with remixes by Andy Stott and Maps, sold out in hours.

Over the course of the next two weekends Moby’s DJ performances as part of Coachella 2013 will signify his first appearance at the festival since it began in 1999. Since it’s conception under the shade of the palm trees that line Empire Polo Club’s fields in Indio, California Coachella has evolved to become the opening event for the american summer music festival season. Spanning two weekends, April 12-14^th and April 19^th-21^st Moby will be DJing in the Sahara Tent on both Saturdays: the 13^th and the 20^th.

Moby will be premiering NEW MUSIC from his recent collaborations with producers Loops of Fury, Zodiac Cartel, Cold Blank and Darth & Vader, to get ready for the experience head over to Potato.tv for Moby’s most recent guest mix.

 Potato.tv is a celebration of all things this innovative festival in the desert fosters—amazing electronic music and explosive energy. Curated by Skrillex, Diplo and A-Trak Potato.tv was excited to have Moby lend a little something to get the party started in the days building up to his live event.

Moby is treating his audience to a visual collaboration as well: NASA images from space! Against the desert skies videos will be presented, encompassing NASA’s wide range of space exploration and technology, from human spaceflight to the Hubbel Telescope, to heliospheric and planetary probe imagery.

Piers Sellers, an astronaut for NASA is beyond excited for this opportunity, “NASA continues to push outwards. We’re looking at the health of the Earth, the surface of Mars and we’re finding thousands of new plants around other stars. It’s a big universe – all of us at NASA are happy to help you explore it.”

For Moby collaborating with NASA is like living out a childhood dream. “When I was growing up I was a science and sci-fi obsessed kid, and now I’m a science and sci-fi obsessed adult… I’ve done lots of things with NASA over the years, and I’m really thrilled that they’ve offered to let me use all of these amazing visuals during my Coachella DJ set.”

Moby will also be reuniting with another previous partner, these now sacred Polo Grounds of Indo, California. 

“In 1999 I was asked to play the first Coachella, and it ended up being one of my all-time favorite festival experiences.  Because of scheduling issues I haven’t been able to play any of the subsequent years, but this year I’m really, truly excited to be going back for the first time since 1999.  I’m also incredibly proud of Paul and the people behind Coachella, for having the vision to start this amazing festival in the desert.”

Release Short Film ‘The Interview’

The Knife have released a short film ‘The Interview’.  Created in conjunction with Marit Östberg who directed the “Full of Fire” video, it goes some way to explain their intentions and thought processes behind their startling new album Shaking The Habitual, released this week to wide critical acclaim. ARROWS Out June 18^th, 2013

Polly Scattergood has now unveiled her video for “Wanderlust”, the lead single from her upcoming album Arrows, due out June 18^th!

Discussing the track and the video, Scattergood explains it’s about “… that moment when you break free from reality and escape everything – even by just shutting your eyes for a moment, or shutting the door to the outside the world. I have found some incredible places behind closed doors and been on some of my favorite adventures inside my mind.”

Directed by NYSU, the Spanish video collective who recently created a series of films for Scattergood’s label mates VCMG, the video aims “to capture the spirit of the song with this story about a girl that wants to escape from her past”, explain the directors. With each subsequent viewing of the video, new elements are revealed in seemingly familiar settings, echoing the perpetual sense of discovery and escape that drives the song forward.

“Wanderlust”, a spinning, luring, and lush soundscape of a track is out now with remixes by How To Dress Well and Charli XCX. A stand out on it’s own, “Wanderlust” was imbued with each remixers definitive point of view, launching the track into two very different, but stellar dimensions.
