Appliance

Appliance’s David Ireland, rest in peace.

We received the very sad news today that the wonderfully talented Mute artist David Ireland from Appliance has passed away.
David was a dear friend and a bright light within the world.
After Appliance disbanded in 2003, David went on to work at the Wildlife Trust and became an important environmentalist.

Appliance made 4 albums together, throughout which David’s mantra like drumming holds them together with hypnotic magnificence.
Although never receiving the commercial success they deserved, the debut album ‘Manual’ was a critical darling and the final album ‘Are You Earthed?’ stands as a testament to the heights of brilliance they could achieve.

Our thoughts are with David’s family and his fellow band mates James Brooks and Michael Parker.
