Du Blonde

Reveals new single Hunter – taken from upcoming album Welcome Back To Milk (out 18/19 May)

Du Blonde has announced details of a new single, Hunter, listen here:

This is the latest track unveiled from the forthcoming album, Welcome Back To Milk, out on 18/19 May 2015.

Following the release of Black Flag, Hunter shows the other side to Du Blonde, it’s a big heartbreaker of a ballad with a stadium sized chorus, Beth Jeans Houghton laid bare and as honest as it gets.

“It was one of those songs that just kind of pours out, it wasn’t hard to write. I was listening to a lot of Aretha Franklin and Janis Joplin at the time and I was really into their way of putting a lot of honesty and emotion into their songs.”

The most accessible and personal song Houghton has ever committed to tape, Du Blonde has provided the armour to be so open. “I can be Du Blonde on stage, singing my diary, then go home. It’s easier to compartmentalise it like that.”

Welcome Back To Milk is the Newcastle-born and sometimes Californian based singer’s second album, but her debut as Du Blonde, and it’s a complete reinvention: new name, new sound, new band, new attitude – and attitude is the key word.

Where 2012’s debut Yours Truly Cellophane Nose threw everything at a song, Welcome Back To Milk strips everything back and is one massive release of pent up aggression, captured perfectly by producer and Bad Seed Jim Sclavunos. Heavy riffs, loud drums and vocal snarls contrast beautifully with poignant balladry and tenderness that fans of Houghton’s previous work will recognise.

Du Blonde is on tour throughout June, full details below:
