COLD SPECKS

NEW TOUR DATES SUPPORTING JIM JAMES

NEW SINGLE “WHEN THE CITY LIGHTS DIM”

OUT MARCH 5th, 2013

WATCH NEW VIDEO FOR “WHEN THE CITY LIGHTS DIM”

We are incredibly excited to announce new Cold Specks tour dates and a support tour opening for My Morning Jacket’s Jim James in addition to an already busy Spring Tour schedule.

To prepare you for new shows Cold Specks aka Al Spx is releasing “When The City Lights Dim” on March 5th along with a new video—check it out here. “When The City Lights Dim” reminds you of the many reasons why last year’s I Predict A Graceful Expulsion was on the top of everyone’s lists including eMusic’s highest praise as the #1 Album of 2012.

“When she begins singing, you understand the fuss.”

-Pitchfork

“One of the Ten Best New Voices In Music”

-PASTE

“She belts out lyrics while maintaining restraint…her voice rings throughout the Bowery, washing over the crowd as it stands silent, captivated.”

PASTE (Live Show Review From Bowery Ballroom Performance)

Describing her sound as ‘Doom Soul’, Cold Specks’ music is steeped in the musical traditions of the Deep South. Citing Lomax Field Recordings and James Carr as influences along with Bill Callahan and Tom Waits, the music of Cold Specks has maturity beyond its years. And with a voice that evokes the ‘spirit’ of Mahalia Jackson and the visceral tones of Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Cold Specks’ sparse arrangements and chain-gang rhythms will stop you dead in your tracks.
