Daniel Avery

Unveils stunning visual album for Song For Alpha

“Hair-raising and psychedelic…a dreamworld of vibrations and melody” – Pitchfork on “Slow Fade”

“Avery’s compositions become engulfing, such is the pull of his palpable textures, dense soundscapes and tantalising beats.” – Uncut

…one of the most mind-blowingly innovative DJs in the world…” – PopMatters

“…the sound of an artist with something special to say rather than a point to prove.” – DJ Mag

“…you’ll come away with an enhanced notion of what contemporary techno has to offer.” – Exclaim

“…a strong, sometimes truly beautiful, maturation of Avery’s work as a producer.” – Mixmag

In celebration of the release of his new album Song For Alpha, Daniel Avery has also brought forth a gorgeous visual album to accompany his mind-melting follow-up to 2013’s critically heralded debut, Drone Logic. Experience Song For Alpha here.

The arresting visual components of the Song For Alpha release were created by London-based design house Flat-e. Prior to the album’s release, fans were treated to a sneak peak of the full visual offering via videos for album tracks “Slow Fade” and “Projector.” During the creation of these videos, Flat-e melded the analog and digital worlds by layering animations of crystalline structures and then manipulating them digitally to make them appear fluid.

Song For Alpha is released via Phantasy/Mute in USA and Canada and via Phantasy worldwide. The album is Avery’s exploration of the space in which home listening and club music intersect. Reflecting on the inspiration behind Song For Alpha, Avery states, “I’ve become increasingly interested in those moments in a club when the outside world becomes little more than an inconsequential thought at the back of your skull. Eyes closed as opposed to hands in the air. The more time you spend with this idea the deeper you fall.”

Avery will play a special “all-night” set tonight at Brooklyn’s Good Room in support of his new album. Afterward, he will wrap up his US tour before heading to South America and Europe – full dates below. Fans who purchase an album and ticket bundle for eligible North American tour dates will receive Song For Alpha at an exclusive discount. Order here.
