Job Vacancy – Production & Digital Assets Coordinator.

Reporting to the Art Director/Head Of Production, this is an opportunity to work closely with all aspects of a vibrant and historic independent label and be instrumental in keeping worldwide releases on track to coincide with release campaigns.

Mute Artists Ltd is the recording label originally founded by Daniel Miller in 1978 with the release of his own single – The Normal ‘TVOD/Warm Leatherette’.  Since 1978 Daniel Miller has signed and developed an amazing array of innovative artists, including Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Depeche Mode and Moby, and shown long-term commitment to numerous highly influential musicians and songwriters. With a current roster that includes long-term Mute artists such as Goldfrapp, Erasure, Liars, Can, Laibach and Cabaret Voltaire, alongside newer signings such as Swans, Josh T. Pearson, Arca, Yeasayer, Apparat, Diamond Version and Maps, Daniel Miller has ensured that the guiding spirit behind the roster has always been one of artistic freedom and creative exploration.

Mute also has Management and Publishing divisions, which add to the diversity of knowledge and breadth of experience within the company.

This varied role would ideally see the successful candidate having previous production or supply chain experience. The role calls for extraordinary attention to detail to coordinate release timelines, maintain stock control and provide accurate metadata to all partners.

Knowledge of Excel spreadsheets, inter company file sharing systems like High Tail and Drop Box is essential as well as an understanding of the physical and digital market place for music in 2015 and beyond.

We’re looking for a team player who has a ‘no task is too small’ attitude, someone who handles pressure well, can have a laugh, and is passionate about getting to work in music. If you have a passion for the arts, even better.

  • Coordinate and manage the set up and data input of all of Mute’s physical and digital releases; ensure accuracy of all metadata across various templates and send updates when need be.

  • Digital asset coding & delivery to retail partners via distributors in time for worldwide release dates; coordinating all parts with A&R and production, checking audio against the label copy, coding with barcode and then uploading for delivery to distributors and all international partners, confirming all release / pre-order information in a separate detailed email to ensure all releases are set up correctly and following up to ensure everything is all set up.

  • International stock management from UK warehouse to territories, ensuring timely and cost effective delivery for all new releases to international warehouses.

  • Managing stock control over new release re-orders and catalogue.

  • Coordinate delivery process for all physical formats, acting as the first point of contact for production partners and distributors. Successfully negotiate tight and cost effective manufacturing and delivery times – UK and international.

  • Monitor stock levels and control re-orders on physical catalogue; keeping a tight control on pricing of re-ordered stock.

  • Ensure clarity regarding all product specifications with international partners and maintain up-to-date International Release Schedule to allow accurate information share on a weekly basis.

  • Coordinating the delivery of all parts (artwork, vinyl lacquers, and CD master) for manufacturing to US office and all international partners, ensuring that all departments make part deadlines for worldwide release dates.

  • Update of international stock movement sheets and stock summary sheets; ensuring all information is accurate and updated on a daily basis.

  • Compiling database of metadata for all products (including all video products); updating on a weekly basis.

  • All artist / tour stock liaison, raising of invoices and delivery notes; ensuring stock is delivered in time for any touring schedules.

  • Ongoing maintenance of Mute anti-piracy system.

  • Register and maintain Mute’s catalogue on PPL database; registering recordings, products, transferring of rights. coordinating with accounts and MCPS when recordings or products haven’t been processed through the system.
