Reveal incredible new video for ‘Nerves of Steel’

FEATURING A WHOLE HOST OF LGBTQIA+ STARS INCLUDING DETOX, MANILA LUZON, AMANDA LEPORE &  CANDIS CAYNE

ERASURE (Andy Bell and Vince Clarke) have shared the fabulous new video for their latest single, ‘Nerves of Steel’. Featuring over 20 LGBTQIA+ stars, including several best known for their appearance on RuPaul’s Drag Race, the video shines a suitably neon light on the single’s pop gleam. Andy Bell has said, “This is my favourite track from the album, I am truly honoured that all our LGBTQIA+ friends were so creative during lockdown and helped us with this joyful video. Thanks for creating such a lovely piece of art!”

Watch the full video here:

Talking about the track, one of the video’s stars Manila Luzon said, “Nerves of Steel evokes the butterfly feelings I remember when first falling in love and nothing else in the world mattered — pure excitement and electricity!” while Detox explains, “Erasure has been an integral part of my queer soundtrack from early on and it was a tremendous honor to be included in their new work!”

Erasure’s eighteenth studio album, The Neon, is out on Mute on 21 August 2020, and available as pre-order exclusives on limited edition neon orange vinyl, limited edition neon green cassette and CD in a fold out orange foil blocked sleeve with fold out lyric and photography booklet, as well as on black vinyl, to download and stream.

The Neon – is a place that lives in the imagination, that we – you and me – put in the real world. It could be a night club, a shop, a city, a cafe, a country, a bedroom, a restaurant, any place at all. It’s a place of possibility in warm, glowing light and this is music that takes you there.

Written and produced by Erasure, the album’s initial sessions saw Vince and Andy reunite with a fresh optimism and energy. Vince had been feeling drawn towards his older machines, some of which he’d had since their very early years together: “There’s a warmth to them. There’s also a real beauty in putting different analogue synthesisers together, too – a Pro-One, a Sequential Circuits, a Moog – they give this lovely sheen,” he explains.

Taking inspiration from pop music through the decades, from bands Andy loved as a child through to the present day, he explains, “It was about refreshing my love – hopefully our love – of great pop. I want kids now to hear these songs! I wanted to recharge that feeling that pop can come from anyone.”

The Neon brings warmth and a brilliant brightness, connecting us to our pasts and our futures as it glistens with hope. It creates beautiful places where our imaginations can roam, bringing us together, twinkling and beaming. The Neonputs you and me in a celebratory world, now and forever, illuminated and alive.

The ‘Nerves of Steel’ video features (in alphabetical order): 6, Amanda Lepore, Aurora Sexton, Candis Cayne, Cara Melle, Cheddar Gorgeous, CT Hedden, Delta Work, Detox, Joey Jay, Kiki Xtravaganza, Manila Luzon, Mayhem Miller, Mercedes Tyler, Morgan Michaels, Nina West, Pandomonia, Pearl, Raja Gemini, Sherry Vine and Widow Von ‘Du
